1. Membership Matters – Registration Required

“This talk will consider the ways in which information technology and mobile communications are changing the nature of space. In particular, it will concentrate on how they allow emotion to be transmitted and new kinds of social organization to be constructed”.

Professor Nigel Thrift was Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research at Oxford until June 2006. He has been the recipient of a number of distinguished academic awards including the Royal Geographical Society Victoria Medal for contributions to geographic research in 2003. Professor Thrift is an Academician of the academy of Learned Societies for Social Sciences, and was made a Fellow of the British Academy in 2003. His current research interests include the use of space and time by financial markets and the history of time.

4. Annual Subscription due for 2007 for Ordinary Members

Ordinary Members who have not yet paid the annual subscription fee of $30 due by 31 March for the calendar year 2007 are kindly reminded to do so soon. Ordinary Members who have not paid annual subscriptions or the calendar years 2005, 2006 and 2007 will be removed from the list of members in accordance with Article 4.4 of the Constitution.
