Oxbridge Goes to the Museum

Sebastiao Salgado’s Exhibition ‘Genesis’ at the National Museum of Singapore

Saturday July 26, 10:30am

Committee member and art advisor Bonnie B. Lee (Selwyn, Cambridge) will guide a small group around the National Museum Singapore’s current exhibition of Brazilian photographer Sebastiao Salgado’s latest series, ‘Genesis’. Already the museum’s highest attend exhibition ever, ‘Genesis’ debuted at Natural History Museum London last year to record crowds and has been touring museums in Paris, Rome, Toronto, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, Lausanne, Berlin, Stockholm, and soon, New York, Shanghai, and Seoul. The National Museum show is its Asia premiere. In 250 images taken on every continent of the world, and nearly a decade in the making, Salgado captures the pure, untouched, and largely unseen beauty of the natural world.

This event is free to Oxbridge members and will be limited to 12 people.

Please email Bonnie and cc Dominic to reserve a slot. Bonnie will email you directly with details.

Update on Interview Training Session at British Council

On Saturday, 28 June a group of volunteers worked together with Committee Member Tyler Hung and the British Council to run a pro-bono interview workshop, with the aim being to demystify the process and guide students in their university preparations. The event was well attended by at least 25 students and we received strong positive feedback, as well as successfully mentoring students to places.  More details to come.

Members of the Committee and the subcommittee on education received detailed briefs from Cambridge themselves, and a number of colleges are planning on getting involved in future iterations!

Thank you very much to our volunteers for spending a Saturday afternoon with the students and to Tyler organising and coordinating. Tyler co-leads the subcommittee on education, so do please email him if you want to get involved in future events.
